Rock Coring

Rock coring method uses a diamond bit core barrel for obtaining samples in bedrock.  Typically, drilling fluid is used to cool the bit and return the cuttings to the surface.  Rock coring is performed by circulating drilling fluid or compressed air through the drill bit while advancing the drill into rock. The drill bit cuts the rock and the fluid or air returns cuttings through the annular space between the drill rods and bore hole to the surface.
